When will Firm Gnauck connect its first customers?

A small provider made a decisive mistake in winning against Vodafone – with consequences for Klipphausen and possibly all of Germany.

Kliphausen. The telecommunications company Vodafone is still the only provider of fiber optic connections in Klipphausen. But there could soon be a second one. For around four years, the company System- und Anlagentechnik Gnauck from Klingenberg near Freiberg – better known in Klipphausen as SachsenWLAN – has been trying to provide non-discriminatory, open network access under fair and appropriate conditions. So far this has been unsuccessful.

It is generally possible for other companies to pay a so-called pass-through fee to Vodafone and then offer fiber optic connections to end customers, but this has to be economical. Because SachsenWLAN and Vodafone couldn’t agree, Gnauck turned to the Federal Network Agency. And they have now decided – in favor of System- und Anlagentechnik. “I am very pleased with the decision,” said Daniel Gnauck.

Mayor is happy about more competition

“The Federal Network Agency’s decision regarding SachsenWLAN and Vodafone is absolutely amazing,” emphasized local councilor Marcel Golz (AfD list). “This decision not only has an impact on Klipphausen, but on the whole of Germany.” The fact that a little David like Mr. Gnauck wins against a Goliath like Vodafone is very remarkable.”
