Valve still has a little surprise up its sleeve for 2024.

Valve has already assured us that a Steam Deck 2 is not expected any time soon. But the manufacturer doesn’t miss out on a little surprise at the end of the year:

The Steam Deck OLED will soon be available in a limited edition in white, and not only do I really like that, as we’ll see later.

From November 19th at 0:00 a.m. Central European Time it can be ordered for the proud price of 719 euros. However, there are a few requirements.

Steam Deck OLED: New color, well-known technology

There is nothing new inside, as Valve officially announces:

Steam Deck OLED: Limited Edition White has the same specifications as the Steam Deck OLED 1TB model, but in white and gray.

The specifications continue to read as follows:

  • 1280 x 800 HDR OLED with anti-reflective etched glass
  • 7.4 inch display
  • 1 TB SSD
  • 90 Hertz display
  • Wi-Fi 6E
  • 50Wh battery

The scope of delivery also includes an exclusive white carrying case and a white microfiber cleaning cloth, as Valve further reports.

Important: The new model will only be available in limited quantities. Valve distributes supplies proportionally to the regions in which the Steam Deck is distributed. As the manufacturer states, the device will no longer be produced after it is sold out.

Purchase is limited to one device per account. In addition, the account must have made a Steam purchase before November 2024 and not have received any negative attention.

Anyone who opens a new account especially for this special model will not be able to buy a Steam Deck OLED in white.

The first comments on the official post are very positive. The user Iglum even seems to be selling his PS5 to finance the Steam Deck in white:

Very nice! I’m selling my PS5 to finance this!

Hyponic dreams of swimming in money so he can call every color his own:

I wish I was rich and could buy every new color, it looks soooo clean, but I can’t justify buying another deck

Tyler also sums it up positively and highlights the look:

Beautiful. I love the gray buttons. It looks so clean.

We in the editorial team are also very impressed with the new color. However, none of us have considered buying one yet.

I would trade in my black model immediately

I’m not a fan of limited special editions like the Steam Deck OLED in white. Why not? They awaken the “want-to-have” factor in me, which tries to suppress any sensible purchasing decision.

For my part, I will still keep my black Steam Deck OLED and let everyone else go first.

But if I could, I would trade in my black model in a heartbeat.

The limited model looks great. With the orange button, Valve has given the PC handheld a nice accent (as with the black model). From a distance, the white Steam Deck even reminds me of the Nintendo Wii and evokes a touch of nostalgia.

But the new color could also have disadvantages: The buttons, cracks and handles are likely to collect more visible dirt than the black version.

In my opinion, the new color is particularly interesting for those interested in buying a Steam deck or PC handheld – or for collectors.

I wish everyone good luck with the order and delivery! May the Hermes messenger be with you.

In addition to the Steam Deck, there are many other PC handhelds that we have already tested for you. If you are generally interested in such a device, take a look at the relevant articles:

What do you specifically think of the Steam Deck in White? Will you buy it on November 19th or do you think the color black is much more chic anyway? Do you even have a Steam Deck from Valve or is a PC handheld from another manufacturer your companion? Which model can you recommend? Just write it in the comments below!
